I have been convinced for a number of years that J.K. Rowling is a Christian and that the Harry Potter books are overflowing with Christian themes and symbolism. After reading "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows", the final book in the series, I believe, once and for all, that it's indisputable fact. "Hallows" is not only the most impressive book in the series, but it's also the most blatant in its Christian themes. Hopefully some people out there will finally stop missing the forest for the trees.Jeffrey Weiss of the Dallas Morning News has a great article about this very thing. Read here.

it's like missing the vastness and beauty of the ocean because your feet get wet- I agree completely Ryan and have been wondering how we've missed so many things for so many years as the "Church"
Out of mostly well-meaning christians comes some of the most virulent poison sometimes.

Harry Potter is so NOT CHRISTIAN!!
Harry Potter is full of SPELLCASTING, WICHCRAFT, SCORCERY, WIZARDRY, DEMON-INFESTED, SATAN-GLORIFYING TRASH!!! no one in their right mind should be reading that HORRIBLE SCUM!!! there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING CHRISTIAN about Harry Potter!!!! i have seen a commercial about one of his movies and it was SCARY, CREEPY, EVIL, DEMONIC, and VERY DARK!! there was no LIGHT!!! IT WAS PRACTICALLY BLACK!!! GOD SAYS IN BIBLE TO FLEE, YES FLEE!!! RUN AWAY FROM, STAY OUT OF, DO NOT DABBLE IN WICHCRAFT, SCORCERY, OR WIZARDRY!

by the "i've seen a commercial" i assume this means thats about the only thing they know of it by those comments.

I'd be willing to dialog with you and I understand that you might have some very real fear associated with your beliefs about JR Rowling; but please recognize that there are things fallible and things beautiful in all humans. This being said, art in its purest form can possess both beauty and fallibility because it's created by humans. Please don't make quick judgments about something that you might not have researched completely and even if you have (researched it) choose your words carefully. We all need to strive for unity in the Body of Christ; and because of that, I love you and wish you peace

I have to agree it is an amazing book and an amazing series.
It really upsets me when other Christians feel the need to say that anything that is not related to the Bible or church is Satanic.
Everything is not black and white.
Their is good and bad in everything.
This reminds me of a church i passed the other day. On their sign they had the words "Casting down imagination"
This just upset me cause it just seems to be the typical viewpoint of the Church. We're not supposed to be single minded beings. God gave us the ability to imagine and to enjoy things that aren't necessarily Word of God related.
As far as I'm concerned as long as something isn't Anti-God, sexual, drug heavy, racist, just out right satanic, then we have every right to enjoy it.
I really hope I'm making sense. It's late and I'm rather tired but I just had to comment on this.

If you want to condemn me for my comments go ahead. But its how I honestly feel. I love the Lord with all my heart. But I can't go through life being single minded and miss out on so many wonderful things.
