More and more I question realism as a complete justification for events in movies. In some movies, yes, maybe a lot of movies; but sometimes what we need is a movie that doesn’t turn out like life.

Very true. Ok, unless your genre is documentary maybe.
Though usually I take much more issue with the other end, those who use creative liberties as a license to jump off the deep end so far that instead of being pulled in, the viewers are left wondering about the possible consumption of mind altering substances.
